I've accepted the new life that you gave me. You've made me one with my creation. My name is Springtrap!

Springtrap, 1996

This is the page for Spring Bonnie. If you’re looking for his plush counterpart, see Plushtrap.

Spring Bonnie is a character from Five Nights at Freddy's 3, although they are never actually seen during the nights. They show up during the Night 5 minigame of FNaF 3, as well as the minigames of Five Nights at Freddy's 4. In FNaF 4, three different suits can be seen for Spring Bonnie. This suit was primarily worn by William Afton whom, as Spring Bonnie, would lure away and murder multiple children.

Appearance[]

Spring Bonnie is a Yellow animatronic Rabbit, seen with a purple bowtie and 2 black buttons on its chest. The belly appears to be a lighter yellow, while the snout's coloring is light yellow. In FNaF World, the buttons are Purple.

In Into the Pit, another variation of Spring Bonnie is seen. Unlike other appearances, Spring Bonnie appears to have blue eyes, possibly mimicking William's eyes. It also contains organic fleshy insides with rows of sharp teeth, perhaps implying an intention to feed on the children they kidnapped, thus explaining why their bodies were never found.

History[]

Five Nights at Freddy's 3[]

Spring Bonnie was an animatronic functioning with "spring-locks", and one of the first animatronics created and used at a Freddy's location in the FNaF storyline. Spring Bonnie made its first debut in "Fredbear's Family Diner", the original location which lead to the rebranding to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Spring Bonnie was first mentioned by Phone Guy's spring lock training tapes. Shortly after the spring lock suits were retired due to an "unfortunate springlock incident", Fazbear Entertainment management noticed that the suit had been moved, and warned employees of the danger of wearing it, with it being indicated that this was the suit Afton had used to commit the Missing Children's Incident.

Spring Bonnie itself only appears in the Safe Room in the Night 5 minigame, where it had been stored for years. Here, William Afton is cornered by the spirits of the Missing Children, and proceeds to don the old suit. The lock mechanism falters as Afton laughs in the suit, as well as the fact that there were rain droplets dropping down through the roof, thus killing him slowly as his bleeding body slumps to the floor. The suit would continue to rot into the state better known as Springtrap.

A pristine Spring Bonnie can be seen performing on stage in the Stage 01 minigame.

Five Nights at Freddy's 4[]

Spring Bonnie appears in the minigame's restaurant, Fredbear's Family Diner, during 1983.

It is theorized that Spring Bonnie and Fredbear were decommissioned due to the incident dubbed "The Bite of 83", shown in the 4 minigames.

Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator[]

A pristine version of the original Spring Bonnie reappears in the Fruity Maze minigame. Worn by William Afton, he looms behind a girl, Susie, and promises to show her where her dog is, luring her away to her death.

FNaF World[]

Male? Female? It's a rabbit, who cares?

— Spring Bonnie's loading screen quote.

Spring Bonnie is a playable character in FNaF World, albeit being one of the hardest animatronics for the player to obtain. This undamaged Spring Bonnie has a noticeably different design from the original damaged Spring Bonnie, leading fans to believe they're the pristine version of Spring Bonnie that would later become the suit used in Scraptrap.

Five Nights at Freddy's novels[]

The Silver Eyes[]

Into the Pit[]

Spring Bonnie is the main antagonist of the first Fazbear Frights book's titular story.

For the most part, they are hardly mentioned. However, near the end of the book, when Oswald returns to Freddy's for one final time, Everybody is gone except for Spring Bonnie.

Oswald finds Spring Bonnie near a door, labeled as 'Private'. Spring Bonnie heads in, and Oswald follows behind him, with Spring Bonnie staring at him the entire time through the long corridor

Farther down the corridor, they reach a door labeled as a Party Room. When Oswald heads inside, six children can be seen dead, and Oswald runs away to avoid being next. Spring Bonnie is next seen reaching out of the ball pit, grabbing Oswald's father and dragging him into the pit, before then chasing Oswald. They then appears to take over the life of Oswald's dad, with only Oswald seeing their true form.

After Oswald returns to Jeff's Pizza, Spring Bonnie attacks him, trying to keep him away from the ball pit. After a bit of fighting, they end up hung, with Oswald getting his father out of the pit. Oswald's father makes a slight mention of the now empty costume while leaving.

Trivia[]

  • In one of the nights of Five Nights at Freddy's 3, one of the tapes pertaining, the Phone Guy states that "...the spring-Bonnie suit has been noticeably moved...", which is where the suit was given its "real" name of Spring-Bonnie.
  • In the Night 4 minigame of FNaF 4, a more rabbit-like version of Spring Bonnie's head can be seen in the spare parts room, which may be the same one that will belong to Scraptrap.
  • Spring Bonnie was intended to appear in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted, however they got scrapped after issues with the original logo containing a fan-design. Their textures still exist in the game's files.
  • It is unclear which Spring Bonnie suit was used by William Afton to murder the children.
    • Fruity Maze implies that he used the suit that would become Springtrap, but if Midnight Motorist is about Afton luring the Runaway Kid from his house, he was most likely using the Scraptrap suit, as the animatronic footprints have three toes.
  • Strangely enough, despite being one of the most prominent characters in Five Nights at Freddy's, Spring Bonnie has never had an official model/ appearance in the game. (Not counting FNAF World, teasers and the minigames.)
  • According to the The Freddy Files: The Ultimate Edition, William Afton took pride in his low-effort performances when he wore the Spring Bonnie suit.

Springtrap is the main antagonist and only physical animatronic featured in Five Nights at Freddy's 3. It is the alias of William Afton, the main antagonist and serial murderer of the Five Nights at Freddy's story, trapped inside Springtrap, having had his body crushed and mutilated by the animatronic parts inside, following a springlock failure in the Safe Room.

Appearance[]

The suit is an olive green with a forest green belly patch with the same colour on the inside of the ears. The suit has several holes ranging from small to large in size. The teeth are mostly exposed, having a yellowish tint. The left side of the suit is mostly decayed (or missing), showing parts of the endoskeleton with a red wire poking out of the missing part of the suit's ear. The right side, and the ear, are less decayed. The face has multiple holes, and a larger hole on the top right side of the head exposes the head of Purple Guy's rotten corpse inside. Two wires, red and black, and two green wires are sticking out from the bottom of the large hole. The eyes are grey and are similar to human eyes, except at the size of animatronic eyes. In front of the eyes are light grey circles. The hands are mostly complete but the thumb and the first finger of the right hand are missing, showing the endoskeleton fingers, the left hand is mostly complete except for the second part of the ring finger that is missing.

When Springtrap appears at the end of Sister Location, he appears much the same as his original design from the third game, although missing some animatronic parts (such as the pelvis and hip which exposes his endoskeleton pelvis and complete lack of veins and arteries), and with more rips and tears, as his appearance has fallen into further disrepair. The red wire from his half-torn right ear appears to be cut off, his back from the lower part of his torso is chopped off, and blood "vessel-tubes" at the front of his neck are missing as well. His pupils, however, do not glow white, unlike from the third game, though this is likely due to the angle and lighting. The damage is most likely from the fire of Fazbear's Fright. The rest of Springtrap's features, however, are difficult to locate clearly due to being covered partly by darkness or out of shot.

Story[]

Five Nights at Freddy's 3[]

Springtrap is a withered, decayed Spring Bonnie suit, in which William Afton died while trying to escape his victims. Springtrap was left trapped within the Safe Room for the better part of 30 years, until he was retrieved by the crew of Fazbear's Fright, who were looking for an intact animatronic. On the second night of the Fright guard's shift, Springtrap was put within Fazbear's Fright, and after so long without fresh prey, began hunting after the guard.

Springtrap was far more intelligent in his stalking than Afton's victims, choosing to hide in the darkness of the rooms and climbing through the vents. Springtrap also subtly taunted the guard through his actions, possibly being the one to generate the Phantom animatronics as hallucinations. However, despite retaining Afton's cunning, the animatronic was still limited by it's programming, and was able to be lured away by Balloon Boy's laughter, and was also unable to get through a sealed vent. As each night passed, Springtrap grew increasingly aggressive at being unable to kill. After the guard's sixth Night, Fazbear's Fright was burned down, perhaps as an effort to kill Springtrap. While he was presumed destroyed, he could be seen in the dark background of the subsequent newspaper photo after brightening the image.

Sister Location[]

Springtrap appears in the Custom Night Golden Freddy Mode cutscene. After Michael finishes his speech, Springtrap walks in for a second, outside of the burned down Fazbear's Fright before the screen goes black. At some point afterwards, as revealed in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, Afton discarded his Springtrap form, and took on a different Spring Bonnie suit, known as Scraptrap.

Help Wanted[]

While the original Springtrap is long gone by this point, he features as a game character within the Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience, based on the rumours surrounding the Fazbear brand. He appears in the FNaF 3 levels (acting the same as in the original game), the Hard Mode version of the "Vent Repair - Ennard" level (where the player has to fix the vent as soon as possible before Springtrap kills them) and Pizza Party (peeking inside the FNaF 3-styled room, where the player has to leave it as soon as possible or Springtrap kills them).

Special Delivery[]

Replicas of Springtrap appear as part of the Fazbear Funtime Service, but unlike the other animatronics was not intended to be added by the company. These versions of Springtrap shared the personality and voice of the original William Afton. Despite not being on the database, Springtrap had somehow been added to the service, presumably because of the Glitchtrap virus.

Behavior[]

Five Nights at Freddy's 3[]

Springtrap is the only true antagonist within this game. He will slowly approach the office, similar to the animatronics from the previous two games, but can also attempt to take the vents as shortcuts. Most often, he will try to immediately go through Camera 14, being his fastest way into the office.

There are only two ways to hold him off. On the camera system, there is an Audio button. Pressing this will play one of Balloon Boy's lines from the previous game, and attempt to lure Springtrap to it. He will only be able to hear it if he is in one of the adjacent cameras, and will not move if he is in a vent. If he is in a vent, you must instead go onto the Ventilation view in the system. Locate the vent, and double-click on it, which will shut it. This, however, has a small window of vulnerability, for the vents do not close right away.

Once arriving at the office, he will either wait outside the door to the left of the player, or directly attack from the vent. When in the doorway, he will not immediately attack the player; He can only attack when either the Camera or Repair systems are up, or when the player's vision is lost due to ventilation. He can additionally be lured back to Camera 01 using the audio, although this is as far back as he will go.

When a Ventilation error is in effect, Springtrap will create a fake clone of himself on the cameras. This will attempt to trick the player into thinking he's there, allowing him to close in. This fake Springtrap, sometimes deemed a Phantom Springtrap, will have no physical impact on gameplay, and is merely a hallucination. It will disappear after the Ventilation is fixed.

Ultimate Custom Night[]

He climbs around in the vent system, making his way toward the vent opening embedded in the wall in front of you. Track him by watching the vent monitor. He moves silently, so don't bother listening for him, but when he is poised to attack you will see his face looking back at you from the vent. Close the vent door on him to send him away.
The sound that plays after Springtrap's jumpscare.

Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted[]

Springtrap reappears in a near perfect recreation of his original appearance. However, despite his model having lower quality, his AI is more polished; Rather than seemingly teleporting, he will walk from room to room, and can jumpscare the player without assistance from the Phantoms or Panels.

In addition to this, he appears within Ennard's blacklight level. His purpose is to slowly crawl towards the player in the second section, putting them on a time limit. As long as the player is fast, however, he is not much of a threat; His distance back, along with his slow movespeed, allows players to quickly deal with his threat before allowing him to get close.

Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery[]

Springtrap returns within Special Delivery, generally being treated as the hardest fight in the game. Alongside the initial character mechanics of charging or haywiring, Springtrap's haywire has an upgrade; When his eyes are White, you must look at him rather than looking away. This makes him a much bigger threat, as you need to actually find his location and look instead of just looking away.

In addition to this, Springtrap tends to haywire far more frequently, being known to often chain up to five in a row. Players with slow reaction times may be unable to keep up.

Five Nights at Freddy's novels[]

The Twisted Ones[]

Fazbear Frights[]

Springtrap features in two mutually exclusive ways within the Fazbear Frights series.

In the Flesh[]

Springtrap is depicted as the titular antagonist of the VR game Five Nights at Freddy's: Springtrap's Revenge, where he hunts down the player within a maze, trying to kill them before they can escape. The developer, Matt, based him of his childhood fear of mascot costumes, and wanted him to be remembered as one of the great horror villains of pop culture. He did extensive research on the methods of real life serial killers, and while programming the AI, vented all his frustration and bitterness of his own life into it.

Pressure[]

Springtrap features in the form as a cosplay in the Urban Legends Roleplay Auditorium in Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex, based on said urban legends, where it formed a central part of the "Green Eared Killer" scenario, where a group of teens are pursued by Springtrap. Luca was peer pressured by his friends into taking on the role of Springtrap, despite his misgivings. In reality, Luca ended up wearing an actual springlock suit, with the costume having been donned by Earl, who was a child serial killer in the making. While Luca was mortally injured by the springlocks, he managed to stop Earl.

Trivia[]

FNAF 3[]

  • A message hidden in a pre-release post (the double-lettered words spell it out) revealed the animatronic's name as Springtrap.
  • Out of all the animatronics in the entire Five Nights at Freddy's series, Springtrap appears to be the only one to not have a "starting point" as to which camera he can be initially viewed in during the beginning of each night he appears in before he starts moving.
  • It was confirmed by Scott that it was William Afton that was scared into putting on the Spring Bonnie suit, which caused him to get killed and trapped by the springlocks, creating Springtrap.
  • According to a hidden minigame that is found by tapping the Bonnie plush, Springtrap may have come from Fredbear's Family Diner, along with Fredbear.
  • Springtrap has five fingers on each hand, as opposed to the cartoonish four-fingered hands of the other animatronics. This is most likely because Springtrap's costume was (poorly) designed to fit a human inside.
  • In the mobile version, Springtrap can attack the player without closing the monitor. This will also happen with Phantom Chica.
  • The shot of Springtrap writhing about in the trailer could be William being crushed within the suit.
  • William's decayed mouth can be seen whenever Springtrap opens his mouth, foreshadowing a corpse being in the suit.
  • A rare event can happen when starting a night, where 1 of 3 pictures can be seen. The first photo is of springtrap with his mouth open a bit. The second one is of him now pushing the upper jaw up to reveal William Afton's dead corpse inside. The third one is of William Afton, now pulling open the upper and lower jaw in an attempt to try and pull himself out. After one of the photos are shown, the night will start as normal.
  • It is possible the main reason Springtrap was unable to leave the Safe Room was because the suit was in animatronic mode, and animatronics were programmed to not detect the Safe Room, meaning that as far as Spring Bonnie was concered, it was in a room which did not exist, which means he could not move.
  • An image of a glitching Springtrap can be seen in The Freddy Files. It appears to be similar to Scraptrap, but with the damage of Springtrap, likely being an in-between.
    • The glitching Springtrap also appears to be similar to Into the Pit's version of Spring Bonnie, which could imply that it's the same suit.
    • The Five Nights at Freddy's: Ultimate Guide later confirmed this was for In the Flesh, making it the first Fazbear Frights teaser.
  • Springtrap is the only animatronic to change the second half of their name upon being damaged, rather than the first half.
    • Additionally, Springtrap is the only character who's damaged name is shorter than their fixed version.
  • Springtrap is the only animatronic to be the leader of two groups; The Phantoms, and the Twisteds.
    • On top of this, Springtrap is the only animatronic to not be part of any of the groups he leads.
  • Springtrap is the first instance of the main antagonist not being a version of Freddy, with the second being Circus Baby and third being Glitchtrap.

Sister Location[]

  • It was thought after the Sister Location cutscene was released, that this meant that Michael Afton was Springtrap, but after Game Theory's 6th November FNaF theory, Scott Cawthon confirmed that that Springtrap is actually William Afton.
  • Prior to the game's release, a major theory had started after he was found being reflected off of Circus Baby's nose.
  • The burned version of Springtrap seen in the Golden Freddy cutscene was called Dark Springtrap by merchandise.

Special Delivery[]

  • Of Springtrap's lines, two of them are shared with Nightmare in Ultimate Custom Night.
    • These are "You will not be spared. You will not be saved." and "I am here to claim what is left of you."
    • Some of his other lines are paraphrased versions of Nightmare and Nightmare Fredbear's lines.
  • Springtrap is the only character within the original Launch Cast to feature unique haywire mechanics.
  • When Springtrap's jaw moves, the jaw of his corpse moves along with him, rather than remaining static like previous games.

Toxic Springtrap is a skin in Five Nights at Freddy's: Special Delivery, introduced in the Wasteland Event. As he is a skin, his mechanics are identical to Springtrap.

Appearance[]

Toxic Springtrap has a more purplish recolor; The majority of his suit has been taken over by various toxic bubbles/spores, and he has purple goop spreading across him. Small bits of his original colors are visible.

Special Delivery[]

Trivia[]

  • Toxic Springtrap appears to be similar to the Purple Guy animatronic hoax from Five Nights at Freddy's 3.

Flaming Springtrap is a skin in Five Nights at Freddy's: Special Delivery, introduced in the Sizzling Summer Event. As he is a skin, his mechanics are identical to Springtrap.

Appearance[]

Flaming Springtrap's suit is an obsidian black, only interrupted by the raging inferno around him. His endoskeleton appears to resemble molten lava, similar to the Jack-O Animatronic's endoskeletons.

Special Delivery[]

Trivia[]

  • Flaming Springtrap's design resembles that of a Jack-o-Springtrap
  • Despite his event being a Fire-themed event, Flaming Springtrap is the only one actually on fire.
    • Broiler Baby's flame was contained in her chest, Endo has a flamethrower, and Scorched Chica had already burnt to a crisp.

Clown Springtrap is a skin in Five Nights at Freddy's: Special Delivery, introduced in the Dark Circus Event. As he is a skin, his mechanics are identical to Springtrap.

Appearance[]

Springtrap's suit has become a white color, complete with a red nose. His right eyelid has been turned blue, while the left became a dark purple. There are also patches of purple hair around his ears.

Springtrap's new outfit appears a bit too big on him. On his chest, he's wearing a red clown vest, complete with a purple inside making room for his red bowtie. There also appears to be a pocket next to his right arm.

Underneath the vest, he's wearing a gray shirt, which is darker on the sleeves. The gray shirt also has red puffed out sleeves on his forearms.

On either side of his bowtie, there are two yellowish orange buttons. Lower down, there's also two pink ones, one covering the split between red and purple, the other on his metal belt. There is also a flower right above his pocket

Covering his legs is some gray pants, albeit ripped. On his feet, he's wearing clown shoes, in a white/purple/red pattern. He's also holding a hammer.

Trivia[]

  • The flesh appears to have been removed at first glance; However, looking at the model itself, it's just endoskeleton textured.
  • Springtrap's jaw appears to be connected to his head, unlike his base counterpart.
  • Springtrap is the first animatronic to have 3 skins.
  • During his haywire, you need to look really close; The only visible difference in eye color is the glow.
  • He is the first variation of Springtrap to be holding something.

The Curse is a skin-like character, found within the Special Delivery Ancient Equinox event. He was introduced alongside Serpent Mangle on March 5th, 2021. As his basis is Springtrap, he takes on Springtrap's mechanic and voice lines.

Appearance[]

To be added

Trivia[]

  • As he is listed under Springtrap, he is Springtrap's fourth skin.
    • This makes Springtrap the first character to have four skins.
  • Similarly to the Dark Love Duo, he was released alongside a second skin, being Serpent Mangle.
    • This makes him tied for the second skin released in a pair.
  • His skin-like status makes him the first skin not to include the base character's name.
  • Curse has the shortest lure name of any character, excluding Chica.
    • His lure is the shortest of all Skin-type characters.

Scraptrap, also known as Afton by Ultimate Custom Night, appears as a salvageable Scrap animatronic in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator. He is possessed by William Afton and is the main antagonist.

Biography[]

Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator[]

Scraptrap seems to be a separate Spring Bonnie suit to the one William Afton was trapped within. After escaping the Fazbear's Fright fire, he takes on this different suit, and would go onto the new Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, claiming not to have been fooled by the ruse but could not resist the opportunity to continue his killings. Presumably being among the animatronics attempting to break in for "months", Scraptrap ends up in the Back Alley and is salvaged by none other than Michael Afton on Tuesday, which happens to earn him $1000. After the salvage, Scraptrap directly addresses Michael:

What a deceptive calling. I knew it was a lie the moment I heard it, Obviously. But it is intriguing, none of the less.

— Scraptrap

From the Wednesday onwards, Scraptrap hunts Michael in the vents, trying to kill him to get to the children in the pizzeria. Mike lures him and the others with sounds of children, and using his office's resources to fight against them. Scraptrap could be heard mocking Michael, revelling in the opportunity to slaughter more children. He also seems to be fascinated in seeing how his Funtime animatronics have evolved.

During the Completion Ending, the Pizzeria did turn out to be a trap for him and the other haunted animatronics, and Scraptrap burns with the rest of the Scraps and, as a consequence of the fire, his Remnant is finally destroyed. During the ending monologue, Cassette Man, or rather Henry refers to him as an old friend. Henry tells him, that unlike the others, the darkest pit of hell has opened for him and to not keep the devil waiting.

Ultimate Custom Night[]

William will appear once per night and only attacks from the side vent, a sound in the vent and the lights will begin to flicker, you have a short amount of time to close the side vent before you are jumpscared, there is a chance to survive a night without encountering Afton with him on, his chance to appear rises the higher level he is.

— Character description

Appearance[]

His appearance has changed drastically since his time in Fazbear's Fright. His face is completely different, resembling an actual rabbit. He now has more torn patches in his suit and has lost his left arm up to the elbow, half his left ear, and the rest of his right ear. Inside the suit, William Afton's body, now mostly skeletal can be seen with part of his brain visible through the skull as well as five bony fingers as his right hand. The Animatronic's eyes have further sunken into his skull, presumably replacing the human eye entirely at this point. Fleshy veins and muscle can be seem dangling out of various limbs and inside the torso of the animatronic.

As an almost unnoticeable difference, the animatronic feet now have fabric over them in FFPS as opposed to bare metal in Five Nights at Freddy's 3. The new feet have three large, round toes each.

Voice Lines[]

What a deceptive calling. I knew it was a lie the moment I heard it, obviously, but it is intriguing nonetheless.

— William
You may not recognize me at first, but I assure you, it's still me.

— William
Fascinating, what they have become.

— William
How can I resist, a promise such as this?

— William
I always come back!

— William
Bittersweet, but fitting.

— William
That was easier than I thought it would be.

— William

Trivia[]

  • Scraptrap was foreshadowed during FNaF's third anniversary, where his hand was hidden in the bottom left of a "bts" image of Springtrap.
  • Scraptrap is voiced by PJ Heywood, which was the first time an incarnation of Springtrap had been voiced.
  • Some people believed him to be Golden Freddy because he has some spots that aren't withered.
  • If you look at Springtrap's head inside of him, you can see that the head has sharp teeth.
  • His eyes are different than in FNaF 3.
  • Scraptrap only has 2 teeth rather than having 6 like the FNaF 3 Springtrap.
  • The difference in design can be explained as Afton patching himself up with a different Spring Bonnie suit, as a head similar to Scraptrap appears in the FNaF 4 minigames.
  • In his salvaging minigame, a faint heartbeat can be heard, implying Afton is much closer to a undead creature, rather than possessing a suit.
  • He can be seen in the background of Security Breach: Fury's Rage.
  • Scraptrap is an unofficial name, coined by fans.
    • The name isn't copyrighted.
