Story Summaries[]
Into the Pit[]
Into the Pit is the first story in Fazbear Frights #1: Into the Pit. It follows Oswald, a boy living in a dead town with his parents, longing for something to bring excitement to his dull summer. Once a bustling place, the town's decline began when the local mill closed, leading to widespread job losses, including those of Oswald's parents. Many people moved away, leaving behind a lifeless town with few activities. Oswald's family stayed to remain close to his grandmother, with his father taking a part-time job at a convenience store called "Snack Space."
Oswald and his father often clash over movies, with Oswald favoring modern CGI and animation, while his father prefers old-school puppets and models. Once school ends, Oswald's routine consists of going to the library to use the computer and then getting pizza at Jeff's Pizza, a place he describes as creepy. One day, after arguing with his dad about their financial struggles, Oswald hides in the ball pit at Jeff's Pizza, hoping to make his father worry. To his shock, he resurfaces in 1985 at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
There, Oswald meets two boys, Chip and Mike, who invite him to play skee-ball. After spending time with them, Oswald returns through the ball pit, finding it's still the exact moment he left. The next day, excited by his new friends, he returns to the past, where he notices a man in a creepy yellow rabbit suit but tries to ignore him. After playing some games, Oswald again travels through the ball pit. Hanging out with Chip and Mike becomes a regular thing. One day, while they're hanging out, Oswald tells them that he feels like he's mooching off them since he never has any money he can use on tokens of his own. However, unexplainably, handfuls of tokens appear in his pockets, as if by magic.
Curious about the past, Oswald asks his dad about Jeff's Pizza being an arcade in 1985. His dad nervously reveals it was Freddy Fazbear's but had closed down. On his next visit to Freddy's, Oswald hears children crying and calls for his friends, but they are nowhere to be seen. He follows the yellow rabbit into a room labeled "PRIVATE" and discovers lifeless children propped up in party hats. Terrified, Oswald escapes back through the ball pit, where his father angrily waits for him. Suddenly, yellow arms pull his father into the pit, and the rabbit emerges, taking Oswald home, disguised as his dad.
Oswald, unsettled, locks himself in his room and texts his mom to come home. She assures him his father is fine, but Oswald remains uneasy. The next morning, the rabbit, still posing as his dad, sits at the breakfast table, and his mom acts as if nothing is wrong. Oswald pretends everything is normal at school and meets a new girl, Gabrielle. That night, he sneaks out to Jeff's Pizza and dives into the ball pit, finding his real father's body. He is attacked by the rabbit but manages to fight it off, causing it to hang itself on a climbing rope. Oswald's father wakes up, and they return home together.
