Bonnie is one of the antagonists of Five Nights at Freddy's and Five Nights at Freddy's 2. Like his fellow animatronicsFreddy, Chica (and formerly Foxy), Bonnie is a friendly child entertainer during the day housed at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, but kills and stuffs any human he sees during the night into a suit. Bonnie was reported by the game creator as the scariest animatronic, and was also the first animatronic created, even before the game was created.

Appearance

Five Nights at Freddy's

Bonnie is a blue bunny animatronic with red eyes and double ears complete with a red bow tie and a red electric guitar.

Role

Five Nights at Freddy's

Bonnie is the most active enemy in the game and is usually the first to move, slowly making his way to the player's office (teleporting instantly in later nights), and he will always appear in the left doorway.

Five Nights At Freddy's 3

Bonnie's body can be seen in Fazbear's Fright.

Bonnie only appears in the minigames. On Night 2, he is lured to the Safe Room by Shadow Freddy, and is then dismantled by William Afton. However, on Night 5 the soul inhabiting him blocks the exit with the others to prevent William from escaping. A child with Bonnie's mask is seen getting freed in Happiest Day.

Locations

Bonnie will first start on the Show Stage, and then go to Backstage, Dining Area, Supply Closet, West Hall and into the the Office.

Strategy

Five Nights at Freddy's

The player can lock him out. Otherwise, Bonnie will simply stand there until the player checks the camera or the power runs out. If they check the camera, Bonnie will be triggered into attacking.

If the player has enough power it is possible to check the monitor continuously until 6 AM and Bonnie will not attack. If the power runs out, Freddy will attack instead. An easy way to check if Bonnie is behind the closed door is to turn the light on and you will faintly see his shadow from the window.

Ultimate Custom Night

Poor Bonnie has been forced to share a cramped stage with another animatronic, Foxy, and he's pretty upset about it. These two will take turns looking out from the curtain, but whereas Foxy will hide himself when viewed on camera, Bonnie will do the opposite, and become more agitated. If Bonnie is looking out from the curtain when you view Pirate's Cove, he will take the opportunity to flash his blinding eyes and scramble the cameras, all of them, for a significant amount of time. Needless to say, losing the ability to use your cameras for this long will most likely be a death sentence. The only way to tell who is actively looking out from Pirate's Cove is to observe a tiny figurine on your desk. This figurine will change from Foxy to Bonnie depending on who is active in Pirate's Cove. Not paying attention to this detail and thereby looking (or not looking) at Pirate's Cove at the wrong time can cost you your run.

— Character description.

It should be noted that Bonnie is vulnerable to the Death Coin, despite jumpscaring the player in doing so.

Trivia

  • Despite the name, Bonnie is identified as a male, according to the creator.
  • Bonnie is the only animatronic to go in the backstage and the supply closet, although he doesn't stay in those places for long.
  • In the trailer for the first game, he was shown running and removing his face; the running ability being given to Foxy. No animatronics remove their masks in the game.
    • This could possibly have been the inspiration for the Freddy Mask mechanic in the second game
  • Scott Cawthon, the creator of Five Nights at Freddy's, considers Bonnie to be the scariest animatronic.
    • He had multiple nightmares while making the game, and even gave himself accidental jump-scares while programming Bonnie's A.I.
  • Through the placement of the FNAF 3 heads compared to the FNAF 6 Gravestones, it can be confirmed that Jeremy is Bonnie.
  • Bonnie was the first character made by Scott Cawthon and was made before he got the idea for Five Nights at Freddy's.
  • Scott Cawthon has said that Bonnie does not abide by the laws of Space, Time, and Physics.

Withered Bonnie is an older model of Bonnie and is an antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Appearance

Like the other withered animatronics, Withered Bonnie is decayed, and has gone through more major changes. He's lost his face, arm, and large sections of his suit.

Bonnie now has two black buttons added to his chest. His face has almost been ripped out completely, revealing the endoskeleton's head inside. However, his lower jaw remains, featuring more teeth than the previous game. He also has two red LED "irises".

Bonnie's left arm has been torn out completely, revealing a bundle of wires in its place. His costume has become tattered, particularly around the legs, revealing parts of his endoskeleton, with a few wires poking out. The fabric on his right hand and left foot have completely come off, revealing the endoskeleton underneath. His costume appears to be a dark shade of blue.

Role

Bonnie will become active on Night 3 and extremely active on Night 4. He also appears on Nights 5 and 6.

Locations

In Five Nights at Freddy's 2, Bonnie starts in the Parts/Service and then go into the Main Hall, Party Room 1, Left Air Vent and then the Office. Bonnie could also appear in the hall in front of you when not on any camera.

Strategy

Bonnie will come down the hallway after activating. Don't worry if he appears in the hall, as he is unable to enter from there. He will enter the office from the CAM 05, skipping the blind spot. You will have a short period of time to put the mask on before he jumpscares, and therefore kills you.

Sounds

Withered Bonnie's jumpscare sound
Withered Bonnie in the office

Ultimate Custom Night

He slips in through the trapdoor while you are viewing your monitor. You'll know he's there by the audio and visual distortions he causes just by standing there ominously. You only have a short amount of time to put on the mask to ward him off, otherwise a jumpscare is all you'll have to look forward to.

Trivia

  • On mobile, Withered Bonnie, Withered Chica, and Withered Freddy take longer to leave the office
  • Although hard to see on cameras, Withered Bonnie no longer has any suit on his left foot, much like Foxy's from the first game.
  • Withered Bonnie lacks his left arm and nearly his entire head, with only the lower jaw and part of the endoskeleton's head remaining.
  • The Freddy’s Files claims that Bonnie can enter the office through the hallway, although this is not true.
  • Withered Bonnie now has a bright red light where one of his eyes were. This makes him look far more unique than the other withered animatronics.
  • Withered Bonnie’s mugshot from the Custom Night is very similar to how he looks in the hallway.
  • Withered Bonnie will become extremely active from Night 3 onward being much more active than Chica, rather like the first game.
  • In Ultimate Custom Night Withered Bonnie seems to like making puns about faces, possibly related to him having no face at all.

Errors

  • In Withered Bonnie’s mugshot from the Custom Night, his bowtie clips through his jaw. This also happens when he’s in the hallway.

Nightmare Bonnie is an Animatronic that features in Five Nights at Freddy's 4, and is the nightmarish incarnation of Bonnie.

Behavior

Nightmare Bonnie is incredibly active in the first few nights. He behaves similarly to Nightmare Chica except that he comes down the Left Hall. He first starts in an unseeable room that connects both halls, then can be seen peering behind the far end of the Left Hall or, if right next to the door, his jumpscare. If the player ignores Nightmare Bonnie for too long while he's at the door, he will enter the Bedroom and attack.

When the player is at the left door, it is advised to listen for breathing, as no visual cues will be available to tell if Nightmare Bonnie is there. Assuming no audio cues are heard, it is advised to flash the hall, as Nightmare Bonnie can be slightly delayed if he is at the end of the hall.

Sounds

Ultimate Custom Night

(along with Nightmare Mangle and Circus Baby)

They will all approach from the right hall, but each of them will only attack once per night, and they change their order of attack each night so that you won't know who to expect first. To avoid their jumpscares, purchase their plush toy from the Prize Corner. The Prize Corner has only three plush toys available to buy: Bonnie, Mangle, and Baby, and your funds will be very limited, so it's important to buy the characters in the order that they appear in the hall. You must use Faz-Coins to purchase the plush toys, and there are two ways to accumulate them throughout the night. One way is to block the attacks of other animatronics. Each successful block earns one Faz-Coin. The other way to earn coins is to find them on the cams and scan your mouse cursor over them to collect them. Increasing the difficulty of these characters will increase the price of their plush toys. They cannot be stopped by the office door.

Ultimate Custom Night

Jack-O-Bonnie is the halloween version of Nightmare Bonnie found exclusively in Five Nights at Freddy's 4: Halloween Edition.

Appearance

Jack-O-Bonnie is essentially just a reskin of Nightmare Bonnie. The changes made in it involve Jack-O-Bonnie being orange, rather than blue, and having an orange candlelight glow out of its body.

Five Nights at Freddy's 4: Halloween Edition

He acts exactly the same as Nightmare Bonnie, with only a cosmetic change to him.

His role parallels that of Jack-O-Chica, coming in from the west hall of the house. Unlike Chica, however, upon entering the room to attack, he himself attacks the child. He is also the more frequent attacker out of the two. The child has to hold the left door shut to prevent him from getting in. If the child flashes the light at him when he is standing right outside the door, he will attack him, and if he turns his back on the door to look at the bed, he will enter the room and attack. The only way to tell he is at the door is to listen for his breathing. Holding the door will cause him to walk away, being unable to enter.

Special Delivery

Jack-o-Bonnie's base mechanics are based off of Bonnie. His Aggression and Perception are not quite maxed out, however rather close. Similar to Jack-o-Chica, his Static is replaced by Smoke.

Unlike the majority of characters, Jack-o-Bonnie is completely silent, only making noise when attempting to attack.

Ultimate Custom Night

The Easter event is an event featured in Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery. It introduced two new counterparts of Bonnie.

Chocolate Bonnie

Chocolate Bonnie is a skin in Five Nights at Freddy's: Special Delivery. As he is a skin, his mechanics and animations are identical to Bonnie.

Appearance

Design-wise, Chocolate Bonnie is a brown recolor of Bonnie with several animatronic-sized bite marks on his ear, leg, and torso. His bowtie has changed from Red to Light Blue, and he has pieces of candy representing 3 buttons on his chest. Rather than a Guitar, he's seen holding an Easter basket full of eggs.

Trivia

  • Chocolate Bonnie is the second skin added to Special Delivery, and the first one for Bonnie.
    • Despite being the second, he was the first skin to use the updated naming format.
  • Nobody knows who made the bites in Chocolate Bonnie's design.
  • Because he was brought back with the FNAF AR Merch launch, he was the second Special Delivery event character to have been obtainable during two separate time frames.
  • It should be noted that, out of Bonnie's skins, Chocolate Bonnie is the most damaged.
    • However, if the amount of holes is used, Black Heart Bonnie has more.
  • He is the first animatronic to have Orange eyes, as opposed to red or amber.
    • He is also the first Bonnie variation with an orange suit.
  • Although Chocolate Bonnie's suit is made entirely out of Chocolate, his sounds remain unchanged from the original Bonnie.

Easter Bonnie

Easter Bonnie is a skin in Five Nights at Freddy's Special Delivery. As he is a skin, his mechanics and animations are identical to Bonnie.

Appearance

Easter Bonnie appears to bare resemblance to the White Rabbit from FNaF World, however based on Bonnie's model instead of Toy Bonnie. He is a white-pink rabbit with an easter egg design on his chest, a Yellow bowtie with the outer rim Orange, and a tag on his ear saying "Happy Easter!".

Trivia

  • The Easter Bonnie may have gotten it's name from a common Five Nights at Freddy's meme.
  • Easter Bonnie is the only animatronic added after release to not have an image dedicated to him. He appears exclusively in a group image containing him and Chocolate Bonnie in a candy shop.
  • Before the release of Easter Bonnie, a different skin concept was planned, being Easter Chica.
  • Easter Bonnie is second for most Eye Colors for one character in the series, at 3.
    • Circus Baby is first with four.
    • However, when going on a per-game perspective, Easter Bonnie is actually ahead within the AR game.

Black Heart Bonnie is a skin in Five Nights at Freddy's: Special Delivery, introduced in the Heart Stoppers event on February Fourth, 2021. As he is a skin, his mechanics are identical to Bonnie.

Appearance

Although his initial model remains mostly the same, this variation appears to be made out of glass. The glass is stained a dark black, with more of a dark pink for his snout and inner ears. Various bits of glass are cracked, most notably on his left arm or ear. A gap can be seen within his torso, where an arrow appears to have been shot through.

Scratches can be seen on his suit, most notably around his facial region. His eyes appear to be almost an inverse of the original Bonnie's; Dark, featuring a menacing red glow. Along with this, a red glow is coming from a few spots.

Trivia

  • It's possible that the old Shadow Classic Bonnie glitch was inspiration for him.
  • He and Black Heart Baby are the first skins released as a duo, rather than separately.
  • Black Heart Bonnie is the first skin to be made out of Glass.
  • Like Radioactive Foxy, his eyes remain white during his haywire, despite having to look away.
    • This makes him incredibly hard with CPUs like Springtrap, as there is no indicator.

Bowling Bonnie, theorized to be the new Glamrock Bonnie, appears within Security Breach. He was revealed alongside his location of Bonnie Bowl.

Appearance

Although only the top of his design is revealed, his immediate design looks different from other Bonnie variations. His overall head shape appears heavily based on Toy Bonnie, but with the coloration of the original Bonnie. Toy Bonnie's cheeks are absent, and his snout has been re-done entirely, taking up a big portion of his face.

Both his snout and jaw have taken on the lighter blue color, and his ears appear to be fully connected similar to that of Glitchtrap. Unlike previous incarnations of Bonnie, he has eyebrows visible above his eyes.

Although not showing fully, he seems to be wearing a red jacket, with what appears to be golden suspenders similar to that of FNAF Plus' Bonnie.

His hand is fully connected, without any suit visible, once again similar to Glitchtrap. His paws are different, however. In overall structure, they appear closest to Adventure Funtime Foxy, albeit with the colors swapped.

His overall design appears to be inspired by several other Bonnie variations.

Trivia

  • Bowling Bonnie is the first variation of Bonnie shown in Security Breach.
    • In addition, he is the only animatronic revealed by the exclusive teasers from Dawko's charity stream.
      • He is also the first animatronic to be revealed through Art featured in-game, rather than the usual teaser art or model render for all other characters.
  • He is the first animatronic to be given a Bowling theme.
  • It should be noted that his appearance on the Bonnie Bowl sign is actually a mix between the Glamrock and FNaF World styles.

Melted Chocolate Bonnie is a skin introduced within the Special Delivery Hop Chocolate event, added on April 1st, 2021. Unlike the previous skins, he was introduced alone. As he is a skin, his mechanics are identical to Bonnie. He also shares the sound effects.

Appearance

Chocolate Bonnie has seen better days. His suit has melted over the summer, with damage all over it. Various Sprinkles are on his arms, as well as darker chocolate by his ear. His left eye no longer functions, while his right eye has turned white. The upper right ear has been removed.

The layers of Chocolate are visible, showing how he melted. All of his fingers are shorter, reduced to mere knubs. With the rest of his body, even his Bowtie has melted.
